This week in Design and Technology we had a talk from GSA's Nicholas Oddy. Nicholas runs a course on design history and theory in the art school. On Thursday he was invited in to give his view on "great design".
Nicolas was very open about how great design is almost purely subjective. The "great design" label can be given for a wide range of reasons, from aesthetics and artistic value all the way to engineering and functionality. I feel like most people have an idea of "good design" but who is to say what makes design "great"?
I guess the idea of this blog is not to solve the impossible question of "what is great design?", but to develop my own opinion on design styling, functionality and philosophy.
